Case Study

Pilot Project: Sirolimus-Eluting Stents in Routine Care in Germany

Objective

Boston Healthcare’s client was interested in studying the implementation of drug-eluting stents in routine care in order to supplement available clinical data. Boston Healthcare worked in cooperation with the Charité Medical Center in Berlin.

Boston Healthcare Approach

Boston Healthcare implemented the study in cooperation with a large German statutory health insurance fund. We undertook the design of the pilot project (based on clause § 63 SGB V) which was a sequentially controlled cohort study lasting 18 months.

Outcome

The initiation and successful implementation of such a pilot project is unique in the German medical device market. Results and experiences from this project led to an exclusive understanding and cooperation for all participating partners.
